Federal land vs wma

Is there any advantage to going to federally owned/national forest vs a wma? I.e. weapons allowed during small game season or amount of pressure? We're heading down the weekend after deer firearms season to chase hogs and so far have only really looked at wmas.

Weapons are the same. Legal open season dictates weapon available for hog hunting. Deer season about to close on n.f. so small game weapons will be it.

There are also some opportunities on certain corps of engineer properties outside of the normal state WMA regulation, but you have to go through the process to get a permit and all that. There were certain tracks that they would permit you to hunt that they were trying to reduce the pig numbers on. I went and walked a bunch of the areas right after deer season one year, and there was some sign, but not enough for me to go through with getting the permit. A couple of buddies got the permits, and if I remember correctly could hunt with center fire rifles. Again, that has been a few years ago, but if you are interested, shoot me a pm and I will try to get the contact info together for you.
