Fishing the Altamaha

Rig set up for bank fishing the Altamaha? I'm a North Georgia trout fisherman, going to camp a few days along the mighty Altamaha, and really have no idea what rig, or baits to bring / buy. Any help from the great veteran Altamaha fishermen would be greatly appreciated!

I'll be staying at Altamaha Regional Park north of Brunswick...I would LOVE to get a couple of those giant perch looking things!

All of my Altamaha fishing has been done near the Ohoopie confluence.

Ive only caught largemouth, bream, and cats on it.

Typical bottom rig works for cats.

I’ll use a pyramid sinker and a smaller hook rigged above the sinker on a three way swivel to play the current for bream.

I’ve caught bass on spinners and buzzbaits as well as catfish and bream rigs.

I’ve had better luck in the deeper parts next to sand bars and the slower moving areas of a tight bend.

Can't go wrong fishing on bottom with just a Louisiana pink and a heavier sinker for the current.
