I had already heard about the attributes of my guest today. I’d heard that he was very courteous, mannerly, and smart for an almost 9-year-old but like some of my friends from Missouri, I had to see for myself and then form my own opinion. Well folks, from the time Camry and his granddad Dick Joyner got out of the truck I knew that this young fellow was a gentleman’s gentleman. First, he was immediately drawn to Annie, which is always a good sign of character. Secondly, Camry didn’t talk much. This was an indication to me that he was wise enough to listen for instructions to maximize his experience here on Crooked Creek. Third, when he was done, he was done. Once he said, “Can we take a little break from fishing?” I knew he was ready to check another trail camera or even make our way back to the dock. I admire a man who says what he means and means what he says.
We fished a bit (he caught 14 Bream), we checked a few Trail Cameras, and on the way home he received some expert advice from his granddad on how to properly handle a canoe paddle. I always hope my guests enjoy themselves and I hope that along with his new cap from Farm Bureau, Camry went home with some pleasant memories.
