What is good to plant for bow season and when do you plant?
Peas, soy beans, wheat and oats and clover the 1st week of August. Pray for rain and if we do get rain they will be there by opening weekend of bow season. Broadcasting corn and using rice bran until the legal mark(two weeks out) will help too.
So basically plant around the beginning of october like Gadestroyer said, but you just won't have a plot to hunt for the first half of the season. No problems there, I bow hunt all through rifle season too. Thanks for the info guys, I was going to try and plant in august, glad I saw this thread. I will wait now.
Well your county agent and others may tell you that but I do it my way and it works every year.Maybe I am just lucky but dang I guess I must be one lucky guy for it to work every year.Well anyways,Good Luck and I hope your plots turn out great and your season too! Good planting and good hunting!
This is my first serious attempt at planting food plots. I dont like hunting over golden acorns for deer now hogs I will. I am going to go with the peas in mid August and probaly just top sow some grains when it cools off.
