Ideas for planting.

So a couple of years back I cleared out about a 1/2 acre on a hill top in the woods. Im wanting to plant a food plot there. Im gonna do a soil test and all that stuff. I suspect the soil is acidic being covered with leaf litter for so many years. But my question is what would you start off planting? This area gets plenty of sunlight. Im thinking clover and oats. Im planning on clearing another 1/3 to 1/2 acre to make it bigger in the next year.

Get your soil test results back and apply the required lime into the top 4-6". By October your soil ph will have started to change.

Where are your plots located? After applying and working your lime into the ground, you could plant buckwheat, and or alyce clover or oats or ...... a few other things, just to get something growing, but focus on the fall, for now.

Just in case your soil ph is great and you do want to plant something in the summer, but I would still focus on the fall.
