Lanier - Another Jedi in Training Today

Out on another half day trip today...Skip wanted to learn drop shot and sonar. Now Ol' Skip is in his 70's but was as agile as a cat. Left my dock headed to meet him at Vanns Tavern....and as soon as I pull up to the dock...I start feeling sick.

You see...it wasn't a Tennessee hat...not a Tech hat....not even an Alabama hat....it was a dang Auburn hat! So, after the initial shock of letting that thing in the boat...we were off to learn to drop shot and read sonar.

Boy did we see fish today...but the bite was one and done. We pulled up on one waypoint...see fish...drop down...and Skip sticks a nice spot. We drop a few more times and nothing. I say "dang, it's a one and done day"....Skip replies, "Well, I got mine. Lets go". I mean - dang! Yep - Ol' Skip got the feel down and boated a few fish. He hooked one and almost pulled him in the lake before breaking him off in brush. I'm pretty sure he hooked a big bream

The day was slow but we kept grinding and ended up boating 10 fish with a few good ones and Skip saw what video game fishing was all about....he was hooked!
Spybait and drop shot did the damage with Obsession, Passion, Blue Lily, and Melon Candy doing the damage. Skip - I can only hope I can move and enjoy fishing like you do in 20 years. Great to meet you and a ton of fun and laughs. LJ

Nope...he changed hats as soon as the sun came up. He didn't want anyone to see it on his head...I can understand that
