New Bear Tagging Procedures

For those of you lucky enough to harvest a bear this year in Region 2, a new option for getting your bear tagged is here.

You must still call and report your bear harvest and record it in game check. You can call the Region 2 Game management office in Gainesville to arrange to have it tagged, or:

You may now take your bear to one of eight (8) locations to have it tagged. These locations are processors and taxidermists, and you are NOT required to have them process or taxidermy your bear to get it tagged. They can tag it for you and send you in your way if that is what you want, and it does not cost anything to get it tagged. Some may find this method convenient. Attached is a list of the black bear cooperators in our region.

That’s great information Kyle. Thanks for sharing that info with us. I say us because I’m hoping by some slim chance I’ll be able to hunt some come gun season.
