Had to google that one. Looks like it doubles that power of the throw.
An atlatl dart with a quartzite point will go all the way through an aluminum storage building, and will poke a hole in the hood of a late 60s Ford 3000 tractor. Don't ask me how I know.

As long as we are in the time machine, I'd say back to between 48 and 64 and hold it in there.

Yep…..there was a mistake or two I’d like to correct as well.

I have an atlatl. Made it about 35 years ago.

I love those things! I'm amazed that they were around before the bow & arrow. I guess leverage was more intuitive than stored energy. Another early weapon I like (I made one when I was in the Air Force) is a sling.

I have one of those too, made out of brain tan buckskin.
