I may print 10 documents in a month and then it may be several months before I need to print something again.
The ink cartridges always dry out way before I use them up.
Is there a way to store them after they've been installed in the printer to help them last longer?
Is there a printer that doesn't use ink cartridges like the old dot matrix or laser printers?

Your best bet is a laser printer that uses toner. Here is a link to an all in one printer/scanner/copier

I bought an Epson ecotank about a year ago. We print like you only occasionally. It works fine. Still in the ink that came with it.

laser and don't look back. Black and white are pretty cheap, but I really like color. The M452 HP will last you the rest of your life, but if you have to replace the cartridges, they will cost nearly as much as the printer. The printer ships with toners that will print 3 to 5000 sheets.

cool thing about color laser is you can specify it to print only in black and white to save your color toner, and then when you want a color print, it takes just a few clicks of the mouse, and VAVOOM! Color!
