Yes, I get it at my local farm supply store. You can't get it at tractor supply, the depot, of Lowe's at least around here.
If you use it break the bale apart in the flakes that naturally fall apart. Don't spread it like your covering grass seed with straw. And water the crap out of it. It will start to turn dark on the bottoms side quickly and rot making great soil.
Yes sir mulch hay works very nice. I was just wondering how you tell if they spray it or not. Hay farmers around here are about half do half dont, with more starting every year.

About to begin prepping my raised beds for spring!
Got to put out some mulch hay to begin to rot and go get some top soil pulled from the river. (I live near Blankenship sand company which dredges Etowah river for sand and piles the top soil up for anyone to get so long as they use a shovel.)
I hope to expand the gardening this year. We got two vacuum sealers now and the wife wants to help blanch and seal with me.
This years plans:
Okra, jalapenos, squash, zucchini, bell peppers, cayenne, tomatoes, and some kind of bean.
What's y'all spring plans for this year?
@JB0704
Do you buy from Ladds?

Yup! And right now those collards are sweet as can be! Got some peas soaking on the counter as we speak. Its good to live down south aint it?

Yes sir it is. Mine aren't going to be big and tough. They are going to be small, tender and sweet. Cook 'em with some chicken broth, maters, onions and a couple of slices of bacon and slather 'em with some hot chow chow. It don't get no better'n that.

Honestly, I am not sure but last year I used it and my raised bed was AWESOME. Gonna have three this year plus a trellis for runners.

Bought me a grow light yesterday about to get some seeds started. This will be my rookie year doing this so hopefully it works out to be a great investment.
Plan on planting some carrots and radishes outside this coming weekend.

Does anybody successfully grow beets on a routine basis? Sometimes mine will do ok, but more times than not i dont get much of a "beet". I dont feel like im giving too much nitrogen and i have nice loose soil. I just wish i could figure out how to grow them consistently.

I have better luck with beets in spring than fall. Try some now and see.

Do you think I should plant them right now?

Up a little early so I may go out and plant a few beets right quick before going to work. So far I have some broccoli, cabbage, lettuce, collards, kale and onions started in my garage. I hope to get them in the ground first week of March. I'll start my peppers and tomatoes probably next week. Gonna try to give the peppers a week head start, they always seem to take longer to germinate than tomatoes. I'll start some cucumbers and try to get them planted around first week April. I gotta get them in early to beat the dreaded pickle worm.

Grow light working well. Already got some pepper plants poking through and one tomato.
My only concern from the smell of my neighbors indulgences he may be looking through my window to see what I am growing. He will be deeply saddened to see it is veggies.
