Thank you for asking and yes it is marked but it is hard to find. The copyright mark is a circled C like this ©. It might be stylized which will make it even more difficult to see. Usually textual material will have a written copyright disclaimer with the warning not to reproduce it.

A tipoff will be that most material that is created by an author for sale for a profit nearly always is. I don't know of any cartoon, political or strip, that is not copyrighted.
