What kind of gun and shot were they using? Trying to decide for my boy.

A 20 ga beretta 390. My boy shot up our tss 8's at his turkey then I put a hevi #5 in for Daniel and he got the jake at 35 yds with an improved cylinder. I don't hunt with an improved but the 8's are so tight that it was fine with them.
