Spring Summer Mineral Sites

Just buy a trace mineral block and put it on the ground. They’ll eat it. The only problem with the block is hogs. Those rascals will roll it somewhere never to be seen again.
I've tried various types blocks and the deer don't touch them for some reason, and thankfully we don't have many hogs (only seen 3 in the 4 years that I have owned the place). I think the farmers kill any that show up so they don't root up the crop fields. I really don't understand why the deer don't touch blocks, cattle mineral, and other salty things I have mixed up.

Honest question:
Are mineral sites considered baiting or should I wait to start them after turkey season?
I think as long as it’s not the block’s with corn and such in it you’ll be fine . I know the land i Turkey hunt on has several mineral sights and they were just freshened up a few days ago

Then I’m stumped. Never had a problem getting deer to lick a salt block.

I’ve never had much luck getting deer to hit any minerals on the place I hunt. I had one place that I put deer cane and they hit it about 2 years then stop.

Some places definitely get more action than others. I can't figure out if it's the deer population density that makes the difference or what. I have a lick on one of my places and it gets a little bit of action early in the summer but it cools off after that. It's in a great spot but it never really gets much attention at all. And I have one on another piece of property that I started about 8 years ago and it's probably about 10 feet across. I get thousands upon thousands of pictures on it every year. And I have yet another one that's in between the two extremes. :)

Put out several mineral sites on Thursday evening for the first time on this property. Started getting immediate results. Very pleased so far.
