The Bedford Boys were from Bedford Va. There were 35 of them. 19 were killed on D-day, 4 others got killed later. 29th Division, 116 Infantry Regiment. What a sacrifice for a small town. Highest percentage of men killed in any U.S town or city during the war.
I'm German and still have animosity toward those folks!! There is a book out there about them. I've yet to read it.

Thats a lot of grieving families for one little town. The town's population was about 3200 at the time.

They have a memorial in that town every year people come from all over the world to see.

^yes, I grew up in Va…we have a farm about 35 minutes from Bedford, and I still have family that lives in Bedford…definitely worth visiting the tribute center if you’re in the area
