I'm a bit more optimistic. I think that science will find the "X factor" in how the separate parts/processes of abiogenesis works within my lifetime. If not, I won't be alive to be frustrated about not finding out!Yep.
Ive come to accept I'm not going to know for a fact in my life time.
In the mean time I can only go with what makes the most sense based on the available evidence.
As for those who posit that religions might freak out over it "they're playing god!" I don't think many Christians will, nor will they freak out if primitive life outside the Earth is discovered. Many will just say "so what? It's just simple microscopic life anyway. It doesn't have a soul - it's not evolving into anything complex!" Then they will cherry-pick their Bibles to show that God knew it all along, but humans were too stupid to interpret the Bible correctly.
