To piggyback Mrs hornett22’s thread. What was some of your elders sayings?

fireman32

"Useless Billy" Fire Chief.
Grandpa would enjoy a cold glass of water or buttermilk and would always say “frosty man, frosty”
If I was helping him piddle on something and got antsy he’d say” just hold what you got.
Mrs Cannon that lived down the road from me was always a joy to visit. Think she made it to 97 years old and was sound of mind. Every time we stopped by she would say “come up here sit a spell and tell me something about something”.
I miss those ol timers, lots of history and wisdom gone with them.

My Grandmother on Daddy's side and both of her parents, brother and 2 sisters would say:

"I Declare" or "I'll Declare"

It always had something to do with them being in amazement of something said or witnessed.

"Go to sleep son, for it'll soon be day"
My Granny used to tell me that when I'd stay with her.
This was normally before I would listen to her kneel & pray.
