No disagreement there-When you start adding turbos and gears to the transmissions, along with the shut off crap they have now, all that is is more wear and tear, which naturally will lead to reduced dependability. Even still, I’d get one as they would still more than likely be more dependable than most others.I don’t believe the new 2024 and up Toyota motors are going to be as dependable as they once were. Do a little research….Toyota has changed up.
If I finally decide to pull the trigger in a year or two, it will more than likely be a 14-17 Tundra with the right engine/transmission combo that has the reliability I’m looking for. A buddy of mines some is a tech for Toyota and has shared which ones to seek out and which ones to possibly avoid-similar to @transfixer ‘s comment regarding some of the newer 6 speed tranny‘a having some issues.
Gas mileage won’t be a concern of mine as it won’t be my daily driver, but an overland build.
