What is the latest you can plant winter wheat...want something to get some new plots going ASAP that'll help hold the does and turkeys.

You can plant it now but don't expect to have a good yield.Ya probably going to cut it in in the spring anyway.

I've planted it off and on all the way from Sept thru late Feb before with pretty fair results. The later you plant and the colder the temps the longer it takes to germinate. I just seeded one plot with a fall mix 2 weeks ago. The wheat and rye is now 2 inches high and growing good after a couple good rains. It won't make a seed head but it will provide some good forage for the deer and turkeys.
