Man, yeah! I've never seen or caught a yellow bass, but I want to eat one now.

Same here. Never heard of yellow bass until you posted a couple days ago. Are they closer to a white bass or a hybrid? Or totally different than either?

They're a small fresh water grouper with razor blades on their gills. White bass with a very bad attitude, they taste like the best bream (out of the cleanest water) you ever ate but have shoulders twice as wide. Record is somewhere around 5-6 pounds and I wouldn't want to tangle with that on my deep salt water stand up 9/0.

As far as I know they only occur in GA in the extreme NW portion of the Coosa River basin and that's probably not year round. The Coosa basin has them, not sure otherwise of their range. As stated above, they are some good table fare and they are fighters! And yes those gill plates are a weapon!
