Yup. There's an early rifle hunt on Cohutta Oct 7- 10 if you can't move your days around maybe that helps. So help me out here, Primitive Weapons starts on Saturday OCT 9th and Firearms starts on Saturday OCT 16th, correct? I was thinking a week later for both and had planned vacation around it, looks like I may need to move some vacation days forward.
Awesome man lets at least meet up at huddle house one evening during that hunt. I hope your doing well! Im forever grateful.Haha I hope I run into you under better circumstances this year bro! I am gonna hunt that early rifle hunt this year. I skipped last year trying to learn a new area a bit better.
Blackberries won’t matter come season. Huckleberries will, and they are loaded at 4000ft on the rocky meadows. They got much thinner lower down.So CNF bear is extended a month?
I was scouting this weekend on CNF and found a blowdown tree that had a makeshift den under the root ball. I was able to crawl on top and look down inside and there was a momma coyote laying down with 4 pups suckling on her. I didn't disturb them and no I didn't shoot them either. Their lucky day. I was more worried about my jeep getting stuck. Huge mud holes and I was alone and without signal. Had to drive half a mile in reverse on a steep mountain road to finally get turned around. No bear sign but lots of acorns and blackberries.
Wait... you mean bear season ain't open yet?
Your the outlaw bear hunter.Depends on who you ask.
Your the outlaw bear hunter.
Now I know who to call on this year when I stick one.I just helped get booboo out of the woods.

They always did that. I think Chestatee, Chatahoochee, and maybe Blueridge were the only WMAs that did bear-only rifle hunts in the early season. So it looks like the Cohutta bear hunts are lumped in the the deer (buck only) hunts.
How soon can we validate thse are the dates/ regs that will be formally adopted and printed?
Warwoman did too but I think they are changing it to swallow creek this yearThey always did that. I think Chestatee, Chatahoochee, and maybe Blueridge were the only WMAs that did bear-only rifle hunts in the early season.
You still have to take it to a tech to have it tagged and the tooth pulled but it will be fun to watch the harvest reported in real time and be able to view it by public/private/County and all that.Looks like they changed the way you report the harvest which is very welcome!!!
