I remember back in the mid to late 90s in Lawrenceville a massive brood hatched.
I had no idea what they were, but the shells they left behind on the 3 pine trees in my front yard was covered so thick you couldn't see the bark.
Scared me to death as a child :bounce:

I haven't see them like that since.
We'd casually attach a trail of those husks on ourselves from bottom pant leg to shirt neck. Looked like a trail of them .

Mom didn't appreciate.

Lol. Neat huh?

I am going to go ahead and eat the next bigger one that lands on me.

Mite be good toasted with some chocolate sauce.
I seen a video of a guy coating them in olive oil and salt and cooking them in a air Fryer , said they were better than popcorn shrimp :D

They are starting to die and hit the ground here in Taliaferro. I just picked up about 15. Gonna see what kinda fish bait they are here soon. I put them in the freezer

I hadn’t heard any where I live in NE Ga, but I drove down to LaGrange for the rest of the week Tuesday.
Holt mackerel! The are so loud down here. All over the place. Yesterday one was in my office. Flew himself right into the trash can.
Tonight there was a live one on the ground next to my car. He was wiggy, so I picked him up to get a closer look. Fascinating, big red eyes. But the sucker latched onto my finger and I like to never get him off

Earlier in the week i was catching about eight small bass and at least the many bream. The bite is now way off. About three a minute are falling in the water since daylight and i think everyone is full.IMG_8230.jpeg
The osprey are now lifting small, i think bream? Going after the fishes coming for a cicada- seen that twice since daylight. Bery dramatic and loud when they hit the water. The ecosystem is definitely enjoying these bugs. Still loud and active on the hootch south of West Point
