I know you can put hardwood dowels to repair the holes but what about the areas that aren't a hole, where they tore out a lot of wood. What can you put to repair and keep them from tearing it out again that is strong like wood???

Wood filler. Them torn out holes are the woodpeckers huntin the larvae.
