chainsaws n vines don't mix

My dad logged some when he was young and my grandad logged most of his life. Chainsaws scare me. Call it a healthy respect, but I sweat like a racehorse anytime I run one. Not because of the temperature, but because I'm treating it like I'm holding a rattlesnake that's trying to get away.

Is that a 3400 or 4000? I'll have to bring a ported 394 for you to try. It'll make you smile when you pull the trigger.

3400 ....muffer fix and a little polishing ...not really ported ...

I carried it into a saw shop in Douglas ...old boy in the shop like to had a stroke ...he claimed it was bad news of he worked on it ...I had to stand watch at the door ...but he put me a good logger chain on ....it will cut pretty good ...

The Stilh 18 has muffer fix and mild porting ... It is a cutter also ...put a bigger gauge bar and chain ...

I got a Poulan 361 with a bow too ...it needs some carb work ....it is the one me and my brother cut pulpwood with for about two years ....

Oh! The Stihl was the one that took the fall with me in my accident....

I remembered this post when I cut a big tree out of the rd today. Plenty of vines. I studied it very carefully before getting started. I'm 65 and was alone. Thanks !

I think of running chain saws as being alot like driving vehicles... do either one enough during a lifetime and you're almost guaranteed to have had a few close calls that'll make you count your blessings! No particularly dramatic single incident to share, but quite a few close calls leaving me far more cautious today than when I first picked up a saw 40 or so years ago as a teen.
