Continuous run water pump

Got a little project and I need to pump water from a creek 400 foot to a drainage ditch.

The difference in elevation is 24 foot up hill.

The creek has plenty of flow and 4 foot deep. Rerouting some water to run in the ditch to give access to water for cows. This ditch runs right back into the creek.

What’s the best continues run pump for this? I have access to power for the pump.

Look up online the specs for a ram pump. See if it will work with your flow/elevation change/ distance. If it will then you have an always on pump.
I’ve looked at those and think it’ll work for just flowing water through a ditch.

What I’m not sure on is how much flow i can get out of one in case I ever pond this pasture up with catfish later.

If you can make it flow into a small ditch and get some fall before the ram pump, the ram will work
I need to shoot the elevation on the creek, I don’t know how much fall it has. If I understand correctly, it’s a 1:7 ratio??

Every foot of fall the creek has means it’ll push 7 of out. If I read correctly.

I’ve been studying this pretty hard…….also found the Papa pump. It’s supposed to pump greater distances and elevations. Have either of you looked at these?

Little pricey but flow at a longer distance is my concern.

No sir i just have a basic understanding of the ram pump, havent looked into the papa pump? At the end of the day you are just gonna have to run the math and give it a try. You know as well as i do that sometimes things dont really work how they say, but sometimes things do better!

I’m starting with a ram. I found a different spot with 3 foot of elevation difference that I can run water to. It’ll spill out in the ground and run back down hill towards the creek. I can puddle it up with rocks. Will play with it while I tinker with the inlet flow at the pump to manipulate a fall with channeling water / water fall.
