So i pretend to turkey hunt a bit in the spring while looking for hogs. Yesterday i was at the ol wma and i was standing still watching some deer pass in front of me when i heard a gobble. I slowly backed up a bit to behind a big oak and hit a couple of yelps just to see. I stood there for a few and never heard him again so i slowly started down towards the creek to see. I got about 30 yards away and i hear some steps behind me. I turn around and there is a biiiiiig ol yote stalking up to the tree i was at. He didnt see me untill i moved the gun up. Tried for a shot but he was gone in a second. Anyways, do yall feel like this is a common thing for them to come in to a call? Seems like he was focused right on that area.

Yes. I've had several come into my calling. Had two one time that worked a small food plot I was hunting. the bigger of the two stood at the end of the plot while the smaller one zigzagged its way through the tall vegetation trying o flush out a meal.

I busted a big female up on Cohutta last spring that was coming in to calling. I can recall 3 that I have killed with a few more busting me before they got in range. I've also had a few bobcats sneak in on me.

Well it sounds like its pretty common. That yote thought he was on somethin good so i guess my turkey callin is ok or its so bad it sounds like a rabbit being killed.

I have but its been a couple seasons also have more run in with bobcats over the years. Had a buddy get jumped on from behind by a bobcat while calling a turkey came around the tree and got his hand that he was working the pot call with. Happened in Schley County about 10 years ago.

At least a couple times a season. Over the years I've gotten a few kills on video, been touched on the elbow by one while sitting in front of a huge live oak, and sore tailed a couple too. Last one I got walked right to me and I killed her at 5 steps. Adds to the experience.

Not yet this season , but usually a couple every season . A couple years ago I was working a bird and had a coyote come slipping by and I didn’t want to ruin my hunt so I passed him . Never again , it wasn’t 5 minutes and turkey’s started putting and flying in ever direction . I’m sure it was just out for some early morning exercise though , all the experts say they are not causing any harm to the population

My dad was doing a mid day hunt today, he said 30 seconds after first call one came to him and didn’t leave

The scientists have dug around in the coyotes’ doo doo and they can tell us with certainty there is no impact whatsoever from the brush wolf.

Moral of the story; never listen to a man that digs around in doo doo.
