I had similar experience at county court house. Been on full home stead exemption for a few years. I setup house so Mrs is successor, no probate required.

I get call need to redo exemption application due to adding wife. Lady pulls out application 6x8 index card with affirmation printed on it. She proceeds to fill in our names and address by hand on two cards and had me sign them. Nothing changed, I qualified before adding wife, I qualify now! Make work for .gov employees!
