And yet, the roads are full of dudes cruising around in brand new trucks.

It is unreal.

I often marvel at what I see in the parking lot at work. It is no mystery why I see the owners working a pile of overtime.

And malls, shopping centers, resturants are busy...

The amazing thing to me , beyond the price of course , is people do not do any research on these new vehicles, especially those with new powertrains before they buy. 90% of them will have to go back to the Dealer a half dozen times or more for warranty work in the first couple years, and will likely have costly failures not far outside of warranty ! yet people still buy them ?

People dont care what the final price of anything is now because they are all payment shoppers. Whats the payment? Then of course when nobody actually pays for the thing it drives up prices. You can thank all the people living well beyond their means for this.

Trucks are about to get WAY more expensive than that. In the next few years, automakers will have to comply with regulations that state they must produce a certain ratio of electric vehicles to every gas/diesel vehicle, depending on the emissions of the vehicles. It's about 2:1 EV to Truck for a 1/2 ton. EV production isn't anywhere near high enough to accomplish that, so trucks are about to get scarce and even more expensive.

Remember, it's not about the environment. It's about making travel too expensive until the only option for most is renting in cities with public transportation. Just another tightening of the noose. They can't TAKE our cars, so they'll just make them too expensive for anyone to afford.

Some of the automakers are already backing off the EV thing, it isn't feasible , realistically or fiscally, these quasi Government agencies pushing this don't have a clue , EV's will ONLY be feasible in cities, for short trips, and the power grid in those cities are YEARS away from being able to support the increase in power required !

It ain't gonna fly , period ! they will however continue to explore small diesel powered vehicles, and small turbo powered vehicles, which while better than EV's , will ultimately not be dependable and will be costly

55k in 1997. The famous starter home that no longer exist.
People go straight for the gold on the first house and cars now days.
in 1982 I built my house by myself. I paid someone to lay the blocks for the basement, and to shingle it. I paid another guy to finish the sheetrock while I was laid up in the hospital with a ruptured appendix. Total cost.... 28k

I added on a bigger kitchen and a sunroom in 1992. I also had metal roofing put on it then. That cost another 59K...
