Hunting across the pond #1

Following one of my previous posts, a couple of people have suggested I post some info about my hunting trips here in the UK.

This is the first, an evening goose / duck flight on the River Severn estuary.

It was a sunny evening with clear skies and a full moon. There were not many birds about, but as light was beginning to fade I heard a lot of geese calling and moving up the other side of the river, well out of range. A little while later I heard another group calling and moving along my side of the river. The two guys on my left got of a couple of shots apiece (nothin hit as far as I could tell) and the geese turned across the water back to the other side of the river. That was the only action I saw that evening.

It was a pleasant way to spend an evening on the river bank with my dog until the sun went down and the moon came up. Once the light had gone a Barn owl came drifting behind us about 8 feet of the ground looking for its supper, it was patrolling just about 12 feet behind us before deciding to hunt elsewhere. A little later a Tawny owl flew by also looking for supper.

Even though I blanked it was a great evening.
