We made our first trip to Mitchell South Dakota a couple weeks ago and it was great. We had a blast. Already looking at next year. We were thinking Kansas this time for public land pheasant and quail. Found a house in Troy and it has plenty walk in areas close by. So I guess my question is are we wasting our time in that area? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I think you need to look farther west. Like past Salina. Drought has been bad the last few years. Good luck

I just got back from Greensburg KS last weekend. Hunted three days with an outfitter. Got a limit each day. Our first trip and just reserved a hunt for next year a few minutes ago. I can attest to the quality of the public walk-in areas. I did see one area next to the CRP field we were hunting was walkin but it was just a cut crop fields, i say it would have NO Pheasants.
