Metal Detecting

Hi Folks,

Kind of a weird question, but I have a dear friend coming from across the country to visit me here in GA. One of his favorite past times is metal-detecting and it's on his bucket list to do this in the history-rich south! I know nothing about the hobby but he's asked me to ask around to see if there might be any good locations for us to go explore. I live between Newnan and Peachtree City. Any advice or local clubs you can connect me with would be extremely helpful!

You could look at old maps for city or town dumps.
I know someone that does this for antique bottles. Recently, while working an estate sale, someone was talking about going bottle hunting in a spot where her friend found an antique gold chain worth a few good pennies.

Any friends in the farming, logging, grading, building business?
You could always ask them for permission
