HAVE A 32 CAL TRAQDITIONS SQURRIEL RIFLE THE HAMMER ON THE PERCUSSION LOCK FALLS OF COMPLETELY COVERING THE PERCUSSION CAP SHORT BY APPROX: 1/16 OF AN INCHE. HAVE A HAND HELD PROPANE TORCH BUT IT DOESN'T HEAT THE HAMMER UP ENOUGH FOR ME TO MAKE ANY ADJUSTMENTS. ANY IDEA HOW I CAN BEND THE HAMMER TO COVER THE CAP UPON FIRING.
THANK IN ADVANCE

Seen that issue discussed on a muzzle loader forum. Those guns were notorious for that and the problem was solved two ways. One was to bend hammer. The second fix is probably what most of those guns had which is the mortise wasn’t cut deep enough for lock plate. Most people just remove hammer and place in a vise, apply a little heat to hammer and slightly bend hammer a little at the time till it lines up where you need it to.
Good little gun and a 32 caliber may be my next muzzle loader. Or a fowler.
