No One Has a New Boat Trailer

Not like the one I need for my Jon boat. Last week I bent the tongue on my old boat trailer by being careless as I was backing my boat towards my garage where it stays out of the weather. Being a 2007 model I thought well maybe its time for a new one. So I went boat trailer hunting and also did some calling around to different dealers. I could not find one, each dealer I stopped at told me we don't have any but we can order you one but we can't tell you when it will arrive. One dealer told me to drive to Goldsboro NC 160 miles round trip and look there. Nope I ain't doing that.

Finally the dealer just down the road from us told me to go to Holland's Boat and Car sales, the lady inside the office told me he has some trailers and also quite a few used ones that he sells parts off of. So I went and found a very nice older gentleman working there by himself and with a woman he has hired to take used parts off the used boat trailers. As luck would have it I found just what I needed for a great price. Mr. Holland had some new trailers but they were too big for my boat. So I am back in business if I want to go fishing again now. The guy I bought the used tongue from had three boats in stock and he went on to tell me that last month he sold 36 new boats. Thanks Mr. Holland for helping me out, your working lady did a good job with cutting that used tongue off the used boat trailer. Mr. Holland told me he can't find any help to hire, he said folks just do not want to work anymore.

Someone has money to burn, most dealers here now do not have a good supply of new boats to sell, maybe two or three on their lots most of them but they will tell you I can order you one. It just might be next fishing season before you can use it. I sure wish money had been available like it is today when I was a young man.

Dont feel bad. It aint real actual money that people earned, like back in the day when you actually paid for stuff. The modern world is fake rich. Glad to hear you got your trailer handled. Now go catch some fish and think of more stories from the good ol days to tell us "young" folk!

I’ve been looking for a Jon boat to replace the one the local Meth Heads stole out of my pond. I haven’t had any luck finding a Alumacraft model like the one I had stolen.

So yesterday I stumbled across the new Alumacraft’s at Academy. Much to my dismay there is a great big tag attached to the transom, below the hull ID number tag, Made in China:mad:.

Really? No wonder our local marinas who were Alumacraft dealers for many years, dropped them!

The sorriest boat I ever owned was an Alumacraft, I had rather have no boat than another one of those. And they will not stand behind their warranty or they would not for me. I had hull problems with the one I owned.

And the price of boat trailers even for a small boat is out of sight. Last one I bought not really that long ago was 700 bucks. Now, from 1400 to 1600 bucks.

The one I had in my pond was just about bulletproof. They don’t make that same design anymore. I won’t own a China made boat.

Price of steel has literally tripped since January - nothing the trailer manufacturers can do about it. One of the dealers I sell certain parts to was lamenting this morning about how trailers are now more expensive than the boat that goes on them in some cases.

Yeah, the price of boats are thru the roof too. Just a small sound boat now is near 40 thousand bucks.
