That's not just booze. He high on something like Ketamine or Dextramothoraphan which causes disassotiation of the body and vertigo.

Either that or he has some serious vertigo/ataxia issues, but I doubt that he would venture off on his own if he knew he had that much of a problem.

I'm thinking it was drugs, because in the long version he could not get up for three minutes, until confronted. The adreniline caused by the confrontatoin allowed him to get up for a minute.
