Tree ID

Looking for some help in identifying this tree growing along our wood line. To me, the leaves look reminiscent of some sort of fruit tree, but it’s not the normal Bradford pear seedlings we have popping up everywhere. Can anyone help identify?

That almost looks like a Japanese Camellia to me, except the edges of the leaves are usually finely serrated on those. Keep in mind that there are a lot of those deep south plants I'm not familiar with.

I was thinking Japanese privet. But no clue.
Wait a few years and see what it fruits. If it doesn't cut it down.
