POWERFUL suction keeps the venom from spreading into the blood system and nearby capillaries.
I have a 1/2 a dozen or so and keep one kit in every hiking bag, medical kit, vehicle I have.
And it will shut a screaming toddler down just out of the curiosity!

A green and brown caterpillar that hides on the bottom side of leaves and will light you up like 220 volts with just a touch.

no, whatever stung me was airborne and black(ish) and about an inch long.

As luck would have it, I have a strong immune system and high tolerance for toxic bites & stings, so I've never bothered with any treatments other than over-the-counter pain relievers. I would say of all the things I have gotten "tagged" with chiggers are no doubt the worst! Ticks * are a close second, only because I seem to get them on my back where I can't reach them! Mosquitos seem to leave me alone for the most part.

* in Wisconsin we had HUGE ticks (wood ticks) that you could see & feel them crawling on you very easily, so detecting them & removing them before they burrowed into you was a lot easier.
