White Wine Substitute

I'm going to be making baked ziti with homemade marinara..

The marinara recipe calls for white wine.
1) No alcohol sales on Sunday til noon and I'm trying go before then
2) I don't drink alcohol and the SO definitely won't drink it, so it's a complete waste of money to use 1/2 cup

What are good substitutes for white wine in this scenario?

Personally, I would suggest just skip the wine.
My Sicilian grandmother/grandfather/mother never put wine in their gravy/sauce.

What Walt said. Skip it. I never heard of white wine in baked ziti???! Possibly red, but either way wine won’t be missed.

A half cup of vegetable broth with a splash of vinegar or lemon juice.

If you’re already going out most grocery stores have a non alcoholic cooking wine section. But, if not, I’d use just water or broth or any light liquid in its place and I’m sure it’ll be fine.

Call a neighbor as what has some and promise a cup of sugar in return whenever they find themselves in need. This has been my go to for a very long time. It has the added benefit of fostering good neighborly relations too.

Thanks yall, I dont know why I didnt think of non-alcoholic wine..
I put it on the list, then completely forgot it.

I added chicken broth because it's what I had.
Still turned out good.

I did see a tip for those that may come upon this later, which was to freeze left over wine in ice cube trays for the next time you'll need a cooking wine.

Wine is added to dishes for the acidity content. Any alcohol boils off and leaves aminos that are a flavor enhancer. Especially with any pasta dish
