Yellow Jackets….

Every reply on here is "kill 'em". Wonder why, with all the killing, we still have them around. (Which I don't disagree with nuking them, BTW.)

We killed out the turkeys and deer in the '40's and 50's. Why can't we do that with yellow jackets? Pretty sure no one would re-introduce them...

Got a dilemma with a newly found nest. There's a pile of old insulation on a wood floor section in the shop building of my in-laws and the little devils have a nest under it. They're entering and exiting through a small opening in the insulation. hate to use gas on the floor and obviously don't want to light them up. Suggestions?

I ended up going to the ER for a simple wasp sting. Over 2 days my arm swelled up like a football and felt like it was run over by a dump truck. The vomiting and itching 24/7 didn't help. One shot and 4 prescriptions later doing better. I've never had a reaction before. Sucks getting old.

I got into them again yesterday while scouting in the mountains. They are evil. Counted 12 stings, and my hand is still swollen today. I got stung 4 - 5 times in my backyard a few weeks ago, but there was very little swelling or pain. Those rascals yesterday weren’t playing around. I always keep Benadryl in my pack for times like this, so I popped a couple, tucked tail and made the long walk back to my truck.

I was fortunate the other day, staining a fence and the other side started moving! They swarmed but didn’t come over. I learned that paint thinner does a fair job. they took a couple baths a day apart.

I'd rather find a nest of rattlers. Been hit twice over 50 times. Had em in my waistband and shoelaces. They will sting through jeans. I didn't know I could sound like a 9 year old girl.

Was just trimming bushes in the front yard and had one fly out and attack me. I went running down the street screaming like a little girl. Must be PTSD.

I hate those little so and so's with the white hot intensity of a billion flames. Got hit putting up a trail cam today. Ace in the hole was I was about 10 yds away from the log they were under and was able to ease away from them as they were coming out. Must have been a scout that got me. Actually got the cam up in a different spot. I'm Irish/German so getting even is a birth right and I will not disappoint :LOL: !!!
