Youth Quota Hunt Oconee

Hi,
My son was picked for the youth hunt at Oconee WMA - Dan Denton Waterfowl Area Pond 1. I have never been to that area before, any info would be appreciated. Do I need a kayak, float since I dont have a dog? is water too deep? Does my son need a wader? Success rate? I may have a spot for another youth with my son, but only one adult can supervise. You can wait in parking lot I guess...

Call dnr and gets Stan's number. You want a boat if it's been raining a lot. There are two good spots. It's obvious if you scout.

I would recommend waders, you can walk to “most” places, I would say waist deep with a few areas they could be deeper. Depending on where you want to hunt a kayak might not be a bad idea just to get to and from your desired hunting spot.
