That is some BAD reporting right there. Even in the images you can tell the difference between the fox squirrel and flying squirrels. It is FLYING SQUIRRELS that fluoresce under UV light, NOT fox squirrels!
I remember seeing the article in National Geographic a while back about flying squirrels fluorescing pink. Fox squirrels don't, nor gray squirrels, nor red squirrels, nor chipmunks. That was very sloppy reporting on the part of the outlet that ran it.
All I see on my cameras are their eyes at my feeders at night. Actually caught one in midair from a tree to the feeder...wasn’t pink though.
And my fox squirrels would even take offense to this reporting!
