Looking to kill one this year and was looking at going public. Seeing if anyone could point to some good info on Ocala. How much of it is huntable and other regs and such. Thanks

Ocala is mostly scrub. sand pines and such.

Any success you have will be around the prairies if they are holding water such as Hopkins or Farles or more toward the South end around Paisley which is more swampy and has some good size bay bottoms.

Never spent much time around the river on the East side but might be a good start.

I grew up deer hunting Ocala back when it had no to few turkeys, stopped hunting there mid 80's. This place gets a lot of pressure not just from hunters but joy riders and poachers. Also watch for the bears, there is a few documented in there that are pushing over 400 pounds.

Good Luck and keep us posted.

I could not remember if it was still quota or not. I knew when it first opened it was but had thought it got opened to no quota.

Might be 3 units unless I am missing one...Hopkins, Pipeline and Church Lake?

I haven’t been drawn. It was just the biggest wma I could find besides driving 9 hours to big cypress. Didn’t know it was quota
