When I was younger I bow hunted a lot. I shot tournaments and I killed a lot of deer and hogs with my bow. Then as I got older I developed an arthritic condition in my shoulders and I just can't shoot a bow anymore. I haven't bowhunted in a long time. A good friend has loaned me an Excalibur crossbow to hunt with and this will be my first time using a crossbow....now my question is this: If I like this type of hunting and decide to buy a crossbow, what in your opinion is better...a crossbow that is not a compound or a crossbow that is a compound type bow? Thank you and good hunting this year....

Excalibur offers three major advantages over compound cross bows.

1. They are the 4 WD of cross bows. Very few issues.

2. You can change your own string in the field. Pick up an Excal stringer and an extra string and keep it in your pack

3. They can be safely un-cocked with out having to shoot them.

100% of the bow is made in house @ Excal. Rifle accurate and if you use the 150 points and Excal Bolt Cutter broad heads they are penetrating machines.

I would also to a shop and shoot several to see which one feels right to you. A lot of good ones out there.
