Camden County Fishing May - June

One of my goals this year was to catch more reds, and include some bulls in that mix. My year kinda got messed up with a car accident, and honestly I haven't been fishing near as much as I usually do. Its been more of a joy riding/family boat year.

Anyway, I haven't got a chance to land any bulls, but I have been targeting more reds this year with decent success. I've also done more artificial fishing this year than any year before with pretty good success too. I've spent time fishing the creeks I always passed and found a few new places to drop a line.

The biggest red in this bunch was landed by my buddy on a shrimp the size of my pinky finger under a popping cork. He was 36" and released in great health after giving us a good run on a 2500 series shimano. We landed a few nice ones that day, more over slots than slots.

The bigger one I am holding was 32" and was caught on a Z-man paddler right on the spartina grass line in about 8" of water. OMG!! That was the very first sight fishing red I have ever caught. It was a rush like a turkey hunt watching the fish tailing, sneaking up quietly in casting distance, then being able to present bait and land a fish I was literally hunting. Great feeling. Kudos to all of you who do that religiously. That is awesome patience.

Anyway, fishing has been pretty good when I go. I've been taking my daughter out more and more getting her used to driving the boat, tying knots, and how to rig a little. She loves it. So do I. With a few discs all jacked up in my back I am not as gung ho as last year, but I still get to do what I love to do. Tight lines amigos!

Future captain will remember those days the rest of her life! Reds in the grass is just an experience like no other. Thanks for sharing the photos.

Good times! I'm training child #4 to navigate the St Marys river. Don't blink, they'll be off at college before you know it.

Any luck during new moon phases and the flood tides in Crooked? I went Monday but water was so muddy and fast it was hard to manage. Only got a few small trout.

I do OK if I can find clear water. That's when I fish incoming water more and sometimes closer to the sounds. Sometimes you just cant find clear water. Seems like the last of incoming and first of outgoing is the best for moon tides.
