Anyone ever use a Cone Spreader with sand . . .

. . son's school is trying to topdress their baseball field. I used my bucket on my tractor to place buckets of sand on the grass infield and they hand raked it out. Would be MUCH easier with a top dresser spreader but we don't have one of those. Wondering if my simple cone spreader would work when we do the outfield. Anyone every try it?

That's what I assumed. This is a pile of sand that's been rained on now 2-3 times. I'm going to tell them it's a no go.

It might be worth a try if yours has one of the agitator arms stirring the hopper as it spins.

Wet or damp sand would likely destroy that agitator arm. Not nearly as easy to "stir" as dry seed.
