Because his agent lied to him so he(the agent) would make a higher commission on the total contract value.

The agent better hope this can't be proven as true, or he may never get to represent another player again.

Well he didn't communicate the Braves last offer to Freddie so there's that.

To clarify, that's what I meant by "he lied to make a higher commission".

Did Freddie dirty. I hope everyone he represents fires him and he's blackballed from the industry.

I'm not sure if he is with the same agent, but Dansby is represented by the same agency. So that will be interesting...

When an agent negotiates a deferred compensation deal like Freddie's, is part of the agent's fee deferred as well? Or is the agent paid in full up front?

Good question. I would *assume* it would be deferred. Otherwise you're asking your player you represent to pay you in full before they themselves are paid in full.
