Getting old is not for the wimpy

The Wifey and I are at the Fl house for Thanksgiving watching the animals so our Son, his wife and our two grandchildren can go camping in north Ga with her parents.
Every thing was going great until this am when a neighbor rings the door bell to tell us a horse got out of the fence.
He didn’t go far and she had him in a pasture at her place next door.
So Wifey and I head over.
Now she is still recovering from a broke leg 5 months ago so I “volunteered “ to walk the horse back.
The trek was only a couple hundred yards but the horse is a younger gelding with a lot of life, and corresponding less training, in him.
That walk absolutely exhausted me.
Over the years I have done similar walks with similar, or worse, horses uncounted times.
But boy did it wear me out.
I’m lounging around the rest of the day.

Horses can and will flat wear you out, especially a yearling or a foal.

I feel your pain. I've started getting in more steps every day because I noticed how easy it was for me to get winded.

Thought you were supposed to ride the horse!View attachment 1193012
In my younger days I could do that.
But I would spend time in the hospital, or die, if I tried that stuff now.
It is frustrating that our body’s deteriorate so much as we age.
But I guess it’s better than the alternative.
