Henry 22 Mag Lever Gun

I probably have too many 22 LRs and nary a 22 mag. Decided the Henry lever gun would be the one for us (me and three kids 8-12). Took maybe 9 months to track one down but I got it and she’s a nice firearm.

Had it maybe two months now and knew two things: it was off and the front sight blade isn’t the best on the eyes.

Finally had time to shoot off a bag today after dumping a few trees. Put some acrylic paint pen on the front sight and had my punch for the dovetail sight adjustments.

Had some CCI and Winchester rounds. Started off with the CCI then walked it in to center at about 30 yards. Shot two 5-shot groups with both ammo and called it good before plinking with my youngest boy.

It’s really a neat rifle. I think it’d be sweeter with an optic but I’m up to my ears in scopes and like the idea of an old school rifle that the kids and wield in the woods and I can enjoy myself. This rifle fits the bill.

The acrylic pen looks good in the light by the way. But shaded not so much. A fiber optic pin up front would be sweet but I’m just greedy.

My youngest boy approves. Even as a southpaw with his mommas DNA. GON have to give him a haircut before football season starts next month!

I bought a Henry Lever .22 carbine once. Nice rifle, except for the fact that the front sight and rear sight ramp was PLASTIC, and they put the wrong one on the little short carbine.

One call to Henry got me a bag of every front sight they offered in different heights, and a few different ramps.

I got it shooting right, but lost interest in it and traded it off.

The question is, are they still using plastic?

Great to see the young'uns enjoying shooting!!!

There are steel for sure. Really strong. That plastic stuff is bad.

Forgot to share the shots of the ammo… the 22 mag is legit.

does the one on the left have a black tip? If so who made it? I found them in the 22 mag I recently picked up and have had a rough time IDing them. Can't imagine them being in it if they didn't shoot in it.

It’s the Winchester Varmint LF 25 gr….from the picture in the OP. :D

It’s the Winchester varmint 25 gr (red box poster earlier). I’d hate to be a bobcat on the receiving end of that one.

Just saw that @earlthegoat2 was paying attention @Jester896 ::ke:

Resisting the most I can from scoping that thing. Still need to get my 35 Rem unscrewed from the wrong sized Skinner sights.
