Had problems with # 6 birds toting the load off.
Have a benelli with the choke you are talking about. I will try # 5 shot this year . # 6 patterned well loses down range power. Had a browning bps pump with a primos choke shooting cheap #5 shells wish I never got rid of, never missed a bird


#6 hevishot has plenty of power, no problem with the shot I guarantee that; the problem is you not putting the shot where it needs to be.

The 2 oz #6s are what I shoot out of my IC .665. My Dad uses the magnum blend. I like having all of my shot be a bit bigger as there are quite a few smaller pellets that make up the blend. The hevi #6s have plenty of energy for long shots, not that I am advocating that, I like to get them close. But I have pulled the trigger with confidence on 45 - 50 yard birds when needed. I have shot several with the 1 5/8 oz load of hevi #6s as well, and had great patterns with those, just not quite the numbers that i get with the 2 oz load.
