Home run derby

Does it seem odd that the 2 players with the most homeruns,
Ohtani and Olson are not in the derby?
And Alonso looks trim this year, Good for him.

Personally, I'm glad none of the Braves participated. Actually I'm kind of surprised that Acuna passed...this is right down his ally.

This competition sometimes, but certainly not always, leads to bad habits going into the 2nd half. This shows the Brave's players are focused on the big picture.

Then again, it would be fun to see little Ozzie Albies smoke them boys at their own game. :bounce:

You could see why with the guys that participated. They were absolutely gassed by the last round. I really wish they would change the rules back to when it was 10 or 12 outs with no time limit. We are missing out on some of the true home run hitters unlike back in the day. Can you imagine Griffey, McGuire, Sosa, etc. sitting out on the derby during their prime?

Do they pitch from a shorter distance now? Looked like it.

Yes.

The whole thing is ridiculous. At the very least, they should set up a pitching machine on the mound throwing 90 mph fastballs.

I don't watch it.
Looked like a dad pitching to his coach pitch little leaguer.
