We are remodeling a 450 sg. ft. cabin. It's concrete slab, with concrete block walls 4', studed walls for 4', then a tin roof. The previous owner had insulated the 4' stud walls with R13 faced insulation, then covered with clear plastic so that the cabin could be inhabited. We have replaced/remodeled the roof, so we will re-insulate the ceiling. The walls will be constructed (from outside) cypress siding (new), 1/4" plywood, insulation, plastic sheeting, hardwood 1x6s (interior wall, new). The stucture is 40-50 years old, so the floor and walls are subject to dampness (on river too).
The plastic over the insulation is neatly done, so I'd prefer to leave as is and line the interior wall with the hardwood.
Would it be best to leave the plastic or remove it? The plactice would help seal against outside air, but would there be a condensation issue? It's a weekend getaway, so the inside temperature will cycle a lot.
