Is it rare to see a bald eagle in North Georgia (not Rome)?

I saw an adult bald eagle today in Ringgold. Should this be considered a rare occurrence?

If there is a lake nearby, it's probably not a rare occurrence.

Can't say for that area but I've seen them on Lake Lanier.

The closest major lake is Chickamauga (about 30 miles.)

No, there's a pair that nests at Berry College with their own internet stream.

Not common mind you but certainly not as rare as it once was.

Now you want rare, Golden Eagles are rare. We have them spending winters here and they've been tracked as far north as Canada on the return trip.
BTW, don't be surprised if we see a lead free movement for hunting in the next few years as Goldens are documented gut pile feeders.

Saw one near the Gilmer/Fannin line last week. Cool.

See them in Western North Carolina from time to time. If there is a heavily stocked trout stream they will show up and most all the local lakes have them.

They`re getting to be quite common around here and are a daily sight down at the Seminole cabin. I`ve seen as many as 7 one time down there. Saw this one from the back door last week.

I see them here on or around Lake Burton. Usually more this time of year more than in the summer for some reason.

I saw one in Cherokee Valley in Ringgold last fall. I go up Cherokee and Salem valleys all the time and haven't seen one since.

Got several pair nesting on Chickamauga lake all the way down the Guntersville.

Several years ago we had one land in my dad's back yard.
